2,500 Year Old Mummy Sports Ancient Ink
Now we have historic proof that tattoos are cool. That proof is in the inked skin of the “Altai Princess” which is now in the museum of the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography in Russia. Researchers believe that the mummified body of the woman was buried 2,500 years ago, and she was probably between 25 and 28 years old at the time of her death. The Siberian mummy was found wearing expensive silk clothing, decorated boots, and a horse hair wig. Plus, she had beautiful ink across both of her arms and on her fingers. Researchers believe that the tattoos indicate her high position. The woman was buried next to two tattooed men, as well as six horses. The “Altai Princess” will go on display in the museum this month.
