Angela Rodriguez

Name: Angela Rodriguez

What is your job? Animal Behaviorist and Rescuer

What social causes are most important to you?

There are many social causes that keep me up at night, but at the moment, I am focused on the prevention of abuse, neglect and abandonment of animals. I am also passionate about creating a better standard for shelters, rescues and general intermediate care for abandoned animals while they are waiting to be adopted. In the future I hope to expand my work to include animals as tools for recovery and therapy for at- risk youth and adults, as well as for people with disabilities such as autism.

What charity do you support – and how?

I co-founded Lil Monsters, a non-profit no kill animal rescue and shelter
Why do you have a passion for this one in particular, is there a personal tie?

I grew up a “down home country girl” and was always fascinated and involved with animals and nature. Lil Monsters is my way of giving back to the animals that inspire me and teach me hard learned lessons on how to greet each day with a wagging tail!

Is there a particular way you would want to encourage readers to be involved?

Spread the word on animal sheltering alternatives; donate used blankets, sheets towels, pillows, etc. to local rescuing communities in need. Encourage friends and family to adopt from rescues and shelters instead of buying a pet from a breeder or pet store.

How would you define social responsibility?

I define social responsibility as ones obligation to the global and local community to be an active, educated and participating member for the greater good of humanity.

Do you have any tattoos that relate to your social/charitable beliefs/work?

I have a great Phoenix piece on my shoulder. I think that this bird is closely related to my beliefs and work. Working with abused, mistreated, neglected animals is very much a job focused on redemption. It involves bringing animals from ashes to beautiful, healthy pets again. Somehow, these little creatures rose above all their adversity to find loving homes and lead normal lives.

  2. say what? says:

Cow man, what were you smoking? or was it something you ate? You must have posted on the wrong page.

TFR, don’t believe everyting you read. The site may be good, even the article, but the subject herself is not really ‘what you see is what you get.’ Lil monsters is not like other rescues. She may have had good intentions once, but if you look around the web, you will be amazed at what’s out there. Look them up – no physical address, no land-line phone, no 990 tax returns, no pictures of them or their location. You can’t drop stuff off, only to the pet store where they do adoptions. Why? Their old address 279 E. 10th st., NYC (lower east side) was left worse than a pig stye when they moved, I mean were evicted.

They appear to be selling puppies all over the web – who pays $500 for an ‘adoption fee’ in NYC? The ACC adopts out animals for $25, and used to transfer to other rescues for $0. But they won’t give any to the Lil Monsters rescue, no sir-ee bob. So LM drives all over the country ‘rescuing’ pregnant dogs. (Some persons have even alleged they steal them.) What a racket, for each pregnant dog she brings here, she ends up with a nice little payday.

Is she serious? “There are many social causes that keep me up at night, but at the moment, I am focused on ….”

  7. Apple now has Rhapsody as an app, which is a great start, but it is currently hampered by the inability to store locally on your iPod, and has a dismal 64kbps bit rate. If this changes, then it will somewhat negate this advantage for the Zune, but the 10 songs per month will still be a big plus in Zune Pass’ favor.

  8. Only wanna admit that this is very useful , Thanks for taking your time to write this.

  17. I don know the answer to this question, but would an emergency animal clinic have been a viable option? The Capital District Animal Emergency Clinic is open all night and into the morning on weekdays and 24 hours a day on weekends and major holidays, and perhaps a place like that would been better equipped to handle your situation quickly.
