My Favorite Piece: Austin Sherbanenko

NAME: Austin Sherbanenko

COMPANY: Odyn Vovk
Astronomers use the term metallicity to describe the amount of “metal” (elements besides hydrogen and helium) in a star, but we think it could also describe Austin Sherbanenko’s Odyn Vovk. The line’s clothes look to be fashioned for a futuristic motorcycle gang that also happens to play Nordic death metal and attends Milan Fashion Week. Odyn Vovk (translation: one wolf) is just plain dripping with metal. “I always follow my first instincts and go with whatever is on my mind at that time,” says Sherbanenko of his designs. “Whoever can appreciate my work and understand my aesthetic can wear Odyn Vovk. If someone can see the passion I have for garments down to the straight stitches, fabric, zippers, and trims, the wearer deserves to have the piece.”

FAVORITE PIECE: One Wolf
“My wolf by Brittan ‘London’ Reese was the first tattoo on my arm, and I wanted something that really represented me and what my life is about. I created Odyn Vovk alone and I ran it alone for a while. I am the one wolf, and I wanted to remind myself of it everyday. Wolves are very meaningful to me and they are amazing creatures and I feel like I live the lifestyle of a wolf: Hunting to maintain an existence.”

FAVORITE FASHION PIECE: Racer Vest
“This piece is very simple, but has technical, subtle details without being flashy. I like to wear one outfit every single day until it disintegrates off of me. I needed a good vest for riding motorcycles. It’s made from an oiled and waxed cotton canvas that isn’t supposed to be washed. The mill I get it from recommends, ‘Hose it off, do not wash,’ which is very fitting to my lifestyle! Odyn Vovk garments are meant to be beat to shit.”

QUOTE: “I don’t think style is just what’s on your body; it’s deeper than that. For me it’s about the lifestyle and being true to myself.”
