Artists: Elliott Wells
What year did you start tattooing: 2011
Do you have any special training: I started off in a studio in kent where i was shown the bare bones of tattooing, things like machine building, mixing pigments and soldering needles which i feel are little processes that are slowly disappearing from my (the newer) generation of artists!
Tell us about the style of your work: I do a lot of very colourful work usually in a neo-traditional style or japanese work. colour tattoos all the way!
Conventions usually worked: im in my first year of conventions this year and the latter half of last year but so far i have the tattoo royale, (cheltenham, UK), The tattoo jam (doncaster, UK) the tattoo freeze (telford UK) and i have Liverpool tattoo convention, the great british tattoo show and The tattoo tea party (manchester UK) in the coming months!
Where did you apprentice?: i apprenticed for a short time at ministry of ink in herne bay, kent UK but joined the crew at electric buddha tattoo in ramsgate, kent UK in early 2012
What tattoo artist do you most admire: Wendy Ramen from conspiracy ink in germany, her take on colour japanese and neotrad styles are subtle and outstandingly perfect!
Before someone gets a tattoo what advice do you give them?: if its their first tattoo i ask that that they remain patient and think long and hard about the work they want, I will and have turned people away if i feel they don't understand the gravity behind getting a tattoo done. never just slap any old crap on people!
How did you get into tattooing: my family is all artistically inclined (my mums an oil and acrylic painter and puts anything i could ever do to shame! damn embarrassing!) and to be brutally honest art is the only thing I'm good at period!
What inspires you to be an artist: the people i work around and my imagination laced with a little input from my customers!
What kind of tattoos do you look forward to doing: i have a few bits and pieces in the pipeline at the moment that I'm looking forward to, mainly obscure 90's video game and cartoon characters!
Is there a tattoo that you haven't done yet that you are dying to do: id love to do a gnarly japanese crab!
