Artists: Jeff Saunders
What year did you start tattooing: 2007-01-01
Do you have any special training: Tattoo apprenticeship.
Where did you apprentice?: Bensalem, PA.
What tattoo artist do you most admire: Jeff Gogue, Turk, Erin Chance, Nick Baxter. Bobby Johnson, Teresa Sharpe. Richard Smith, Dusty Neal, Gary Dunn. Dave Tevenal, his work ethic is insane. There's so many artists who I look up to, there's not enough characters available here to name them all.
Before someone gets a tattoo what advice do you give them?: If you got the idea for your unique and meaningful tattoo from page 1 of Google Image Search, it's not that unique and meaningful. And if you're dead set on getting your boyfriend's/girlfriend's name tattooed on you, start saving for when you want to get it covered next month.
How did you get into tattooing: I was always drawing, ever since I was a child. I just never knew what I wanted to do with it career-wise, if anything. I was talking to my dad one day about how much I hate my job and he said, "Why don't you try tattooing?" I already had a few tattoos at the time, but never thought of actually doing it. I was in a shop showing the owner a bunch of my drawings like 3 days later haha.
What inspires you to be an artist: Just seeing what other artists are cranking out, there's so much good art out there that just drives me to push myself harder and always try new things. You're apprenticeship should never really stop. I want to learn something new from everything I do.
What kind of tattoos do you look forward to doing: Anything that I can have fun with, really. Everyone has something specific that they LOVE to do, but as long as it's something that I can put my own spin on and the customer lets me run with it, it's bound to be fun.
Is there a tattoo that you haven't done yet that you are dying to do: Definitely! I have folders full of ideas and loose sketches that I would love to get into.
