Artists: Joshua Farmer
What year did you start tattooing: 2001-01-01
Do you have any special training: Ive worked many different jobs befor i was able to really tattoo full time and have been utilizing books as well as online seminars to be able to always be growing with my work as a tattooist.
Conventions usually worked: conventions will be a new thing for me in the very near future. I have stayed pretty underground for a long time now and look forward to getting in the mix with other artists in the upcoming events.
Where did you apprentice?: I apprenticed in a tattoo shop in fresno Ca .I was living in portland oregon at age 16 when i asked a local shop how to go about being a tattoois and there response was simply[ move to california or go to prison] so cali it was:] the apprenticeship turnned out to be a typical fresno story, and hardly worth mentioning besides the criminal activity i witnessed resulting in me leaving willingly. needles to say i tried it out on my own any way i could to chace my dreams.
What tattoo artist do you most admire: One artist i admire greatly amongst many, is Mark mahoney. I met mark while visiting hollywood in 2012 and was nothing but impressed. It became clear to me right away why he was succesfull in the business. Its hard to find a character like him in this industry , or anywhere. Mark was a facinating individual and a great artist.
Before someone gets a tattoo what advice do you give them?: I usually dont give too much advice right outta the gate cause i want them to really open up to me and share what they are either invisioning or wanting, so usually i just listen, If there would be any advice id have to say its pic an artist you like for the work they do and not what you think they might be able to do. plenty of artist are great at one thing and are weaker at another. so chose accordingly.
How did you get into tattooing: My grand father was pretty tattooed on his forearms from the navy and since he was such a role model for me it kinda blossomed from there.
What inspires you to be an artist: i SUCK ALL THE INSPIRATION OUTTA ANYTHING I CAN WHENEVER I GET THE CHANCE, BUT I WOULD SAY IM INCREDIBLY INSPIRED BY THE WAVE OF AMAZING ARTIST OUT THERE CURRENTLY. aLSO ID SAY MUSIC AND NATURE HAVE MORE IMPACT ON WHAT I DO THAN ANYTHING ELSE.
What kind of tattoos do you look forward to doing: I always look forward to starting something that i feel is unique and creative with some fine detail minimal color and mixed with some simplicity. its hard anymore to be doin somthing original, but when it does happen it itslef feels amazing.
Is there a tattoo that you haven't done yet that you are dying to do: I have always wanted to tattoo a full sleeve of heaven and hell at war, or a glen danzig portrait[somethin tells me that would piss him off] and to me thats pretty cool.
