Artists: kirsty harris
What year did you start tattooing: 2012 unofficially, 2014 officially
Tell us about the style of your work: Ermmmmm, what is there to tell really, I like to dabble with varying styles, from colour/black and grey realism, to surrealism, geometry, I pretty much enjoy most styles. I like to push the boat out and create pieces with combinations that shouldn't really work together.
Where did you apprentice?: I actually taught myself, you can't really work an apprenticeship around family life and put food on the table. I bought some equipment, read books, watched tutorials and tattooed grapefruits, then family members, friends etc. For 2 years I tattooed from my home. I managed to catch a break in 2014 when I got a trial at a studio, and then it was on!
How did you get into tattooing: I've always been quite arty and creative, even as a kid, I could draw for hours and hours. A few people had mentioned that I should try it, but at the time it went in one ear and out the other. It wasn't until my sister wanted a Tattoo, I designed it and she took it into a studio and the artist complimented my work and basically told her I should go for it!
What inspires you to be an artist: To be honest, pretty much everything! Other Artists, Music, Life in general
What kind of tattoos do you look forward to doing: Big ones, unusual ones, challenging ones ..... I especially enjoy covering tattoos that other artists wouldn't dare touch! XD
