Artists: Marla Hoffman
What year did you start tattooing: 2005-01-01
Where did you apprentice?: I started as a self-taught tattooer, learning from other artists along the way.
What tattoo artist do you most admire: There are a lot! Dmitri Samohin probably is #1 even though his style is not like mine, but his perfection in everything he does is what I strive for.
Before someone gets a tattoo what advice do you give them?: Stay relaxed and calm. Depending on the person I let them know they can either talk to me to keep their mind off the pain, or they can just go to their happy place and I won't be upset if they ignore me.
How did you get into tattooing: A friend of mine who tattooed saw my artwork and thought I should do it. He thought I had the right drive and attitude to go along with the profession, and he was right.
What inspires you to be an artist: The world. When I look at things I see them as art. I see them in my mind how I want to see them and transfer that thought into my artwork.
What kind of tattoos do you look forward to doing: The tattoos I look most forward to doing are the ones on my clients who I love working on. It doesn't matter what they are getting, it's their company I enjoy.
Is there a tattoo that you haven't done yet that you are dying to do: A large Pixar themed tattoo. A backpiece, sleeve, etc.
