Artists: meagan bohrer
What year did you start tattooing: 2007-01-01
Do you have any special training: when i was a kid, my parents noticed i had a big talent and put me in classes at the pittsburgh art institute. Ive been an artist since i could pick up a pencil, so its something ive always done at school, home, ect.
Conventions usually worked: gambling rose, down east tattoo show, shades of blue
Where did you apprentice?: Squirrelly's skin art in Hubbard, Ohio
What tattoo artist do you most admire: There are a lot, however, I just worked gambling rose with liz cook and I really admire her work. Its nice to see female artists who are rocking the tattoo industry.
Before someone gets a tattoo what advice do you give them?: make sure you look at the work of the artist tattooing you! Too often people stumble into whatever shop and let whoever tattoo them... You're going to live with this the rest of your life, make sure its what you want! Also, once you do find an artist that you are happy with, give them artistic freedom. The artist has a much better idea of what looks good then you, so trust them.
How did you get into tattooing: I actually stumbled into a shop where i was planning to getting a cover-up. I drew my own design and brought it in.. the owner of the shop offered me an apprenticeship right then. I was actually planning on moving a couple hours away the next day, however, put my plans on hold in order to take my apprenticeship.
What inspires you to be an artist: nature, beautiful things, depth
What kind of tattoos do you look forward to doing: I enjoy doing different styles. I gravitate feminine designs that are more on the 'pretty' side, like flowers, ect.
Is there a tattoo that you haven't done yet that you are dying to do: i havent done a large color space theme... I think it would be challenging and i would enjoy taking that on.
