Ask Mary :: Too Soon To Tell

I've heard so many different opinions on this matter but when is it ok to call someone after the first date? (Sara, 19, Honolulu, HI)

The age old question when is too soon? In an age of instant video uploads, instant messaging and instant coffee it seems Americans have adopted the attitude of “the sooner the better.” Dating is no exception I would venture to say things move much faster in the dating world than they did 30 years ago. Call him when you want I would say an hour after a date might be too soon and creepy because you just left each other. However, if the date was amazing it’s always good to know that other person feels the same ASAP. No matter what never leave more than one message, text or call, if they are interested they will respond, that’s the only rule I would go by.
