Emo songsters Hawthorne Heights have shown that they really bleed for their fans. The band had the artwork of their new album Hope tattooed onto them, but without ink. The band got the idea for the inkless tats from tattoo artist Mike Ski and his “Death Kites” project. On his website, Ski describes “death kites” as “a modern form of snake oil which enables an individual to capture and remediate a personal fear, ailment, or positive goal through a representative image in a bloodletting tattoo.” The person then becomes his or her own printing press, with their blood used as the ink that ascribes the image to paper. Hawthorne Heights’ new album Hope comes out June 5th.
