Japanese Youth Are Getting Their Tat's Removed

WRITER Jasmine Wright

Japan is the latest country to see an influx of tattoo removals from their youth. The Takasu Clinic which has cosmetics surgery centers in 3 of Japans major cities, has reported a 20 percent increase in first-time tattoo removal patients between April and June according to the Huffington Post and the Japan Times. So basically these are the recent graduates who are searching for their first jobs, the clinic officials said.

A major factor in this surge of tattoo removal is the mayor of Osaka, Toru Hashimoto, creating a tyrannical crack down on tattooed government workers. According to Japan Times, tattoos became a hot topic after a tattooed city employee scared children at a welfare center.

Tattoos have become a sort of taboo in Japan, often being associated with gang activity. With a 32 percent boost in the States, we are wondering what country is next to overreact and lose their tats.
