Tattoo Exhibit Hosted By Philadelphia Seaport Museum

WRITER Stephanie Collazo

Since opening their doors in 1995, Philadelphia's Independence Seaport Museum has held many exhibits about sea life at this water front location. Now they are showing "Past to Present - Tattooo Paintings," which is only appropriate considering sailors' history with ink. This is the first exhibit at the museum where they enlisted a guest curator, and not just any guest curator, but Troy Timpel, tattoo artist at Philadelphia Eddie’s and owner of the company, Tattooed Kingpin. The exhibit showcases flash art, acetate stencils, and about 150 contemporary tattoo paintings from all over the country.
