Vincent Castiglia Retrospective

WRITER Kate Lindsmith

If you want blood, you got it - currently at Sacred Gallery. Internationally acclaimed painter Vincent Castiglia is displaying his retrospective "Resurrection" at the gallery this month. New York-bred Castiglia has made a career of exploring life and death in his paintings, which are done exclusively in blood. The sepia-toned works offer visceral depictions of the human body, and traffic in themes like mortality, the subconscious, and destruction. Castiglia has appeared on Spike TV and Miami Ink, and celebrity clients include legendary rock musician Gregg Allman.

The exhibit features more than 30 pieces, including Castiglia's first sculpture to be displayed. Sacred Gallery is located on the second floor of 424 Broadway, between Canal and Howard Street, and the exhibit will run through October 31st.
