Where We Come From
PHOTOGRAPHER Unknown
Ever wonder how some of your artists and piercers got into this industry.... We watch these tattoo and piercing shows and yet they never ask this one main question.... I find their roads to this industry are as diverse and interesting as the artist themselves....
For me i envied these artists for their talent and their knowledge but never had a door into the industry, until the bad experiance that would top all others that stumbled into my life.
I was 19 and on a day out with my girlfriends when we decided to get our ears pierced. At the time we thought it was a good idea to go to one of those little piercing booths. When the guy who worked it pierced us with the same gun and only sprayed it with alcohol in between piercings we thought no less. Until each of us got an infection... me being last, mine was the worst of all. This piercing infected itself so badly that no matter what my efforts in trying to clean it, it infected the whole ear and traveled to the whole side of my face. One hospital trip and 2,000 dollars, and a month later, i found myself out of a job and looking to figure out what happened. That was when i answered a add for a job in a shop for a counter girl. It only took 1 week for the piercer to realize my story and that was the day she opened my eyes to the why's and how's. Ever since that day i have had the most respect for this industry and the people who got us here. Eleven years later and now i'm a Body Piercer, and Artist. Some people got here from bad experiances, some from the love of the art, and some just from the love of the freedom. Reguardless, next time you should ask your artist... and when they answer.. you'll know why you love your artist. And who knows.... mabye you'll get a good story.
Giving some love from the Gypsy Queens!!!
