What charity do you support – and how?

My wife and I started Bert’s Big Adventure 7 years ago. We take children that have chronic and terminal illnesses (with their families) to Disneyworld for an entire weekend. It’s a magical weekend that is completely funded by the Bert Show listeners.

Also, Kate’s Club. Kate’s Club is an organization that empowers children and teens facing life after the death of a parent or sibling.

Why do you have a passion for these in particular, is there a personal tie?

Years ago I went on a similar trip. I watched that trip transform the shyest children and witnessed families bonding in a way I had never seen. My thought was that if I ever hosted my own radio show I’d try to create a similar experience.

Is there a particular way you would want to encourage readers to be involved? If you know of any children that you think might qualify for the trip please send their parents to our web site for more info. It’s a totally free trip! And if you wanted to throw a few bucks our way I promise I won’t offend you by sending the money back to you. We shower them with gifts each year ‘til their bags are overstuffed with Disney memories.

How would you define social responsibility?

At the end of the day we all have to care for each other. We are all neighbors. And when your neighbors cry for help I feel like there is a personal obligation to lend support.
