I was the first Japanese pro skater to become a traditional Japanese tattoo artist. It’s not as common as it is in the U.S., with guys like Fred Smith and the Godoy Twins. There’s not as much crossover in Japan.

LIZ COOK:  I think there are so many good tattooers and artists that it is hard to gain recognition in the industry, regardless of whether you’re male or female. You really have to not only be a good artist but you also have to be a good businessperson. It definitely comes down to networking and great teamwork.
