Inked Girls: Abigail Jennings
Myself in a sentence: A free-spirited chick with a never ending desire for more ink!
Hometown: Little Silver, New Jersey
The design and themes of my tattoos: My tattoos are very symbolic and many are family-oriented. I have always preferred beautiful, colorful pieces.
More specifics about my tattoo: I also have a little sun on my foot. It was a stick and poke done by my friend Zoli. I thrive on warm weather and sunshine, so I couldn't think of a better small tattoo to have him do for me! It's simple and it came out awesome.
My favorite tattoo and the story behind it: I have a koi fish on the top of my arm, and he's wearing aviator sunglasses. I spent nearly six years dwelling over the idea of getting this tattoo, and I definitely don't regret putting that much time aside in order to see if I really wanted to get it done. The fish is swimming upstream, illustrating the struggles I have faced in my life. In the reflection of the sunglasses is a beach scene. Growing up in a cute little suburbia in New Jersey, a lot of people would speak to me as if life was so easy growing up here, implying the saying "life's a beach". But what they don't realize is that behind the reflection is the fish struggling just to get through day by day.
My next tattoo: A medium to large sea turtle on my side that starts at my waist and ends at my upper thigh. It's going to be surrounded by Japanese Maple Leaves, which remind me of my home, always seeing the bright red leaves in season scattered across the driveway. The sea turtle carries its home on its back, so it knows that wherever it goes, home is never too far away. Also, the only way a turtle can confront anything is by poking its head out of its shell. By doing so, it will make progress in life. I never want to be far from home, and I have always had trouble with confrontation. I always fear that I'll hurt someone's feelings. The turtle will have a dragonfly etched into its shell, which has always been my good luck charm. My ex boyfriend, who is also my best friend drew it up for me, and I can't wait to get it done!
