Inked Girls: Lauren Marissa
Myself in a sentence: I am myself: a spunky, optimistic, always-happy young woman that just wants to make a difference in the world.
The design and themes of my tattoos: The overall theme of all of my tattoos is to represent my life experiences and family. While my tattoos may no be the same colors or "relate" in terms of design, the message for all of them is the same.
More specifics about my tattoo: None of my tattoos/future tattoos are or will be something I wanted for "fun". My tattoos have so much meaning to me. I love to tell people my story when they ask about my tattoos. I'm not afraid of my past or who I was before. I am proud of myself for getting the help I needed and staying strong for the past 4 years (and many years to come)!
My favorite tattoo and the story behind it: My favorite tattoo is my peacock feathers across my chest. The peacock stands for beauty, elegance, power and strength. In middle school, my father was engaged to a woman that was extremely mentally and physically abusive. Eventually, my father followed in her footsteps and I was in a world of Hell. When I reached high school, I was a self abuser of razor blades and various drugs. My friends and family forced me into rehab my sophomore year, much against what I wanted. It took a long time, but by my senior year I was completely clean and able to stand on my own two feet. My peacock feathers represent the strength I had to push through rehab and to continue to stay strong today.
My next tattoo: My next tattoo is a work in progress. I am in the middle of getting a completely grey-scale night sky and full tree across my shoulders and down my back. The tree, once completed, will have small "ornaments" hanging from the branches. Each ornament will signify a member of my family. For example, my mom's favorite animal is a pig, so I will more than likely have a pig ornament hanging on the tree. Along with the tree and sky, there will be lyrics from my favorite band, Pierce the Veil, on my shoulders. They will say, "I've been having this dream that we could fly, so darling close your eyes".
