The design and themes of my tattoos: mythical, animals, nautical, religious, stars
My favorite tattoo and the story behind it: My favorite tat [these days] is the half sleeve on my left shoulder. It's really two tattoos: a fairy and a band of labyrinths. The fair came first and has a long story, but can be summed up by the phrase "whispers of the magical." The labyrinth, along the same lines, is an ancient symbol of self-inquiry, meditation, steadfast determination, and inner guidance. I especially resonate with the way these symbols have shown up across numerous cultures throughout history, despite the fact these tribal places have had no contact with one another. I believe this speaks to the unity present in all things.
My next tattoo: There are so many! But I think I've decided that my next piece will be a cave-painting type drawing of dancing figures around my right calf. [I am a dancer and a student of shamanism, anthropology, and tribal culture so cave-paintings have special significance for me.]
