Inked Girls: Marissa Fannin
Myself in a sentence: I am a feisty, unique and fun girl next door, except covered in tattoos!
Occupation: Model/ Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant
Hometown: Lancaster, Ohio
The design and themes of my tattoos: My tattoos mostly follow a girly, old-time feel. Many of my tattoos include swirled lines, lots of color and other girly touches, such as hearts, stars and flowers. Although my tattoos are spread out over my whole body, I hope to fill up what is left of this blank canvas that I call my skin.
More specifics about my tattoo: I may have 15 tattoos, but I have actually been through 19 tattoo sessions for corrections and adding on. Each and every one of my tattoos has a story and a meaning. Each was done by a different artist, which I feel makes my skin a type of museum of tattoo artists from my hometown. I do not have a single tattoo that I regret. I have one I might move if I could, but there is absolutely no point in regretting a tattoo. It's there forever, so why make yourself miserable with regret? Instead, I embrace the mistakes and find a way to love them.
My favorite tattoo and the story behind it: My favorite tattoo is on my right arm. It displays my daughter's name and a clock stuck at 8:30. I met my daughter, Patience, when I was 19 and she was 3. She had a wonderful father and I couldn't help but fall in love with them both! I am now 21, she will be 6 soon and I wanted her to know that it isn't blood or papers that make me her mom, but the overwhelming love and dedication I have for her. The clock displayed shows the time to be 8:30. This was actually my due date (August 30th) for a baby we lost about a year ago. My tattoo gives comfort our whole family. It not only reminds us of our Baby Angel, but also as reminder that a mother is a women who loves and takes care of you, not the person who gives birth to you.
My next tattoo: I can't wait to get my next tattoo. I am planning to fill my right sleeve, adding a Day of the Dead skull and a sailor pin-up on the back of my arm. After finishing these 2 pieces, I hope to have them all connected with dots and stars over the top half of my right arm. I am also thinking over some ideas for the backs of my thighs, just below my bum.
