Inked Girls: Medeusa
Myself in a sentence: Dark soul, light aura.
Occupation: Writer/Model/Ex-Pastry Chef
The design and themes of my tattoos: My tattoos are a bit sporadic, as my personality. But most of them have a hint of darkness behind them. I guess it would be easiest to describe them in sections. My right leg will be entirely dedicated to mythology and lore. My left thigh is still a blank canvas, and the lower left leg is a section I am saving for my girlfriend when she has completed her tattoo apprenticeship. My left arm is completely dedicated to the night, something I feel very much spiritually a part of - it starts with the waxing moon, and then leads into a Transylvanian castle. I will finish that arm with a coffin and most likely graveyard oddities. My chest piece is an Italian-style arlecchino mask, which symbolizes the fact that only we know our true selves. We all wear a mask from the public from time to time, and though I know a lot of people, there will always be very few people that really know me, if that makes sense. My right arm is kind of a fun, random canvas. So far I have a sparrow, a Latin quote meaning "she flies to the light with her own wings", the word "resurrection," the number 13 (lucky number/anniversary/birthday), and the character Bill Cypher from the cartoon "Gravity Falls." I just recently got a half-sleeve on my right arm dedicated to my late grandmother that includes a pineapple, a hibiscus flower, a cigarette and a cup of coffee-- all reminders of her. On my right hand, I have three knuckle tattoos: two crescent moons and the Venus symbol on my middle finger.
More specifics about my tattoo: I don't rush to go out and get tattooed just for the sake of being tattooed or looking a certain way. They each mean something to me, and after every new addition, I truly feel more like myself. Life is short, so why not decorate your canvas in a way that describes you? I can't wait to continue my collection.
My favorite tattoo and the story behind it: My favorite tattoo is the portrait of Medusa on my thigh done by Ron Russo of 570 Tattoos. Medusa is my favorite character from mythology and I believe she is my alter-ego, hence why I chose an alternate spelling as my name. I was a lot quieter growing up than I am now, and I've had countless people tell me that my eyes do the talking for me - and that my stares are enough to kill someone. Medusa signifies what I believe I am: a beautiful, mysterious woman who has the ability to lure in the unsuspecting, but the upper hand in every situation. Beauty and strength coincide. It is a warning to not just men as the original story, but to everyone - don't get too close unless you know what you're getting into. Being a woman does not render me vulnerable.
My next tattoo: I have no idea! There are a number of projects I want to finish, I still need a second session on both my left arm (castle) and my chest (mask). After that, I will probably cover up the Arabic quote on my left wrist with a nice, traditional-style coffin. :]
