Myself in a sentence: Not your typical medical student, I'm a free spirit that loves heavy music, watersports and drinking beer on a Sunday sesh!
Occupation: Medical Student
The design and themes of my tattoos: My full back piece is traditional asian style with a tiger, dragon and Koi. I have realism style tattoos on both thighs (a skull and rose and a Marilyn Monroe portrait) and a realistic coloured rose on my shoulder. I have some script on my ribs that says "Luctor Et Emergo" which is Latin for "To struggle and Emerge". I had this done after a health scare a few years ago as well as some script on my inner arm and forearm that says "first you must fall, before you can fly" and "Ad infinitum". I had these done after I got into university and passed my first exam!
More specifics about my tattoo: My back piece- I love that in Chinese mythology the Koi gains strength and turns into a dragon, hence why I have the Koi at the bottom of the back piece and the dragon at the top as if it is evolving into it. I have a tiger next to the dragon which is fierce and like a ying and yang for me like they are in direct opposition with one another. Other than my back piece I have the skull and rose realism style tattoo on my left thigh (the meaning to this is mentioned above) as well as a Marilyn Monroe portrait on my other thing. The Marilyn portrait is a portrayal of beauty and fear with the bugs. The realistic coloured rose on my shoulder is the start to a half sleeve. I have various script tattoos as mentioned above as well as one of my foot that says "Live life without fear".
My favorite tattoo and the story behind it: My favourite tattoo would be the skull and rose that I have on my left thigh. The story behind it is that I am studying to be a doctor and aspire to be an oral maxillofacial surgeon which is why I have a fascination with human skulls! The tattoo is anatomically correct and very realistic which is what I love the most about it. It encourages me to work my ass off when I can't be bothered studying and look down and see it!
My next tattoo: I had one done last week which is a portrait of Marilyn Monroe on my right thigh. The portrait has an scarab beetle and a large fly in it as well to give a beautiful subject a slightly darker twist! I'm also having my back piece worked on in a few weeks with a traditional oriental style dragon to match the tiger that is already there.
