More specifics about my tattoo: choice: Shawn Hill, RECON TATTOOS in Falbrook, CA
My tattoos all represent either important people or influential life events/memories. I attempt to keep them concise by using a common theme: flowers and animals.
Every one of my tattoos has a story and a meaning. My life will be painted on me, and that is the beauty of the art of "tattoo."
My favorite tattoo and the story behind it: My grandfather was a painter, and it was from him that I developed my love of art.
The owls on my back are an exact replica of the first painting my grandfather ever did, one to symbolize he and my grandmother.
Married 50 years, they were just as in love as they were when they first met.
My grandfather was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer last year: the last memory I have of him, is of he and my grandmother renewing their wedding vows as she stood next to his hospital bed. He passed away shortly after.
It is custom for me to get a tattoo to represent a departed family member. I was struggling to pick one that would symbolize my grandfather most, and then I realized: I couldn't get JUST a tattoo to represent him. My grandfather and my grandmother were always together, were always so in love....it didn't seem right to separate them now.
So I chose the owls. My grandfather's first painting. A combination of the passion that kept he and I close, and the love that kept us all strong.
My next tattoo: My next tattoo is never planned! It is usually inspired by certain people, places or life events that have meaning for me; that is the joy of my tattoo journey, that I never know what is coming next! :)
