The design and themes of my tattoos: My tattoos all hold significance about that point in my life. From the first to the most recent, each one has a story behind it.
More specifics about my tattoo: Half sleeve consists of: gerbana daisy's (for my daughters birth month of April) a flying skull with wings and a jewel in the forehead as the "third eye" (for my family) a blue lotus flower with "NOK" rising from the center illumination and the Latin phrase "ad vitam aeternam" which translates to eternal life or to life ever lasting (my daughters father was murdered last year. He was an amazing graffiti artist with the tag "NOK" so the lotus is for him) under arm is a portrait of Lucille Ball w a portion of her face exposed as just the skull with my favorite quote by Oscar Wilde "every saint has a past and every sinner has a future" (this serves as a reminder of my path in life so I know my mistakes do not define me). Left breast: an Irish Sparrow with my daughters name "Madyson" in the banner Also "One Love" in script under the bird (self explanatory). Left shoulder: Hope. Right shoulder: Strength. Between shoulder blades: Spitfire Wheels fireball. Left wrist: tribal band with a shamrock on the top and "red" in the middle (my nickname). Right wrist: "Loyalty". Right foot: "the road to hell is paved with good intentions" (my grandmother's favorite quote and it's absolutely true). Right side: a Phoenix rising from the flames behind a cross with a banner saying "every sin leaves a scar". Left hip: Black Star w a Celtic design in pink (cover up to conceal an ever classic tattoo mistake I made of a boyfriend's name). Sternum/under breasts: etched shamrock with various words "etched" in stone type font "family - compassion - integrity - trust - courage - perseverance" in the center Also under each breast and under the shamrock is the Latin phrase "quod me nutrit me destruit." Which translates to What nurishes me also destroys me. Back of neck: Celtic symbol for eternal friendship. My best friend has the one to match.
My favorite tattoo and the story behind it: My favorite tattoo is the Phoenix coming from a cross with flames behind it that runs up my side. The Phoenix is a symbol of rebirth and I have the phrase "every sin leaves a scar" written in it. Every event in your life has a chance to leave it's mark on you; good or bad. You can be reborn and still carry those scars with you. It means a lot to me to always be a work in progress and to always go with the flow.
My next tattoo: I am thinking of getting a piece on the top of my thigh, but haven't decided what version of an angel I want. To get.
