real good convo going on about symmetry in tattoos on here, so i thought i'd up the ante a lil bit! i did struggle with keeping my tattoos symmetrical for a bit, but once i forced myself to only get one sleeve and be permanently off-balance, i got comfy with the idea of non-symmetry. but then, as things progressed, i came to another fork in the road... do i stick to the all black 'n gray i had been getting since i was 18, or do i get some color mixed in there??? man, that was a hard decision. in the end, i decided that i would get whatever was best for the particular tattoo i was getting, and in the end, they would all fit together somehow. well, they did, and now i sport a good 50/50 ratio of b&g to color.
which is for you, black 'n gray, or color?? or does it depend on the particular design??
i started off with just black tattoos (but that was more to do with calls-himself-an-artist that i went to for them), but i have since added some colour. not alot though, now that i think about it... i think it really depends on what the design is. for example, i have a beautiful maori tribal piece on my foot, VERY detailed, in black, and i just don't think that it would have worked in colour, i think alot of the detail would have been lost. i'm currently designing half sleeves for myself and they are going to be 100% colour, its going to be great!
as for the symmetry thing, i have to be even on both sides! i'm quite sure that if i get too much ink or too many piercings on one side that i'll end up only being able to walk in circles, or at the very least constantly veering off to my 'heavier' side!
