absolutely. a traditional polynesian or maori tattoo design that was an acceptable design for those not of the original ethnicity/tribe to wear would be something i would totally love to do. much like when anthony bourdain got his tattoo on his left shoulder (though he got it donw with a gun. it was a traditional design, but approved by that tribes tattooer for a 'tourist' to have). really cool. but again, only if it was a specific design that was acceptable for a regular ol' white tourist like me, i wouldn't want to have one otherwise and dilute the history and sanctity of a tribe/ethnicity's art by just getting it because it 'looks cool'. many tattooers who still practice this technique would turn a tourist away if they asked for something that crossed the line of admiration and bordered on intrusion. then again, i have heard of a number of modern tattoo studios offering trad hand-poking/hammering/etc. techniques just because someone there learned how to do it, which is also pretty cool, but to me kind of pointless when i could just have the gun if i'm just going to the reg guy at a reg shop.

if my traditional methods you mean the hand poked method of horimono.. i would definately consider doing something like that.. but i really have no tattoo ideas that would be relevant to that type of tattooing.. i definitely wouldn't get a hand poked tattoo of a day of the dead skull or something like that.. so i can't really see myself ever getting a tattoo like that.
