so i was waiting at a bus stop today when i noticed a little girl and her dad talking back and forth and looking over at me.. then i hear the dad say.. "just go over there".. so the little girl runs over.. who looks to be about 7 years old.. and she says.. "i really like your tattoos".. she was so shy and it was so cute.. so i said thanks and then she asked me if they hurt and how long did it take and a few other questions.. it really made my day.. and i was happy about her dad encouraging her to ask me.. he actually stayed where he was at and let her come over and talk to me.. all the while he kept an eye of course.. but it really seemed like he was being a good parent who was trying to raise a mature adult.. i really felt good about it.. then it made me think of my nephew.. he's only 2.. but i love the way he shouts out "unko!" everytime he sees a tattoo.. he points them out on tv and in magazines.. it's the cutest thing..

so anyway.. what experiences do you guys have with children seeing your tattoos?

In general I find kids really like tattoos, it's the parents who sometimes are less than cool about them. I think it is really great that the little girls father encouraged her to talk to you and ask questions.
My Pentecostal cousin saw my first one when she was about 9 and she told me how cool it was. That really made my day. My daughter 2 year old thinks they are great. She loves looking at them and talking about them. Every chance she gets she covers herself in fake tattoos.

My son is only fourteen months old, but he'll try to pick my tattoos off my arm, lol. I think it's hilarious. My niece is almost three, and she always ask to see my fish (I have an angler fish on my forearm). I agree, I think kids are usually pretty accepting, it's usually adults that are weird about it.

i have a 2 1/2 year old son who for the most part
dosent really "see" my tattoos. he dosent know any different.
every once in awhile he notice's them and points them out.
prior to having my son i use to babysit this very smart 4 year old
lil' girl.she definitely noticed them cus her mom didnt have any.
she would trace them w/a pen and proceed to draw more tattoo's on me.
it was cute and i hope in some way i have inspired her to think out side
of the box.

so i was camping with my wife and some friends and their kids, and one of their sons who was about 4 was kinda interested in me cause i like to do things like make fire and burn stuff and break stuff and all kindsa crap when im camping and he was feelin his inner pyro so we were hanging out a bit. after a while he noticed my left arm wasnt in fact a shirt sleeve but was actually covered in tattoos. he thought for a moment, and asked 'are those tattoos?' i said yes, and he thought for another moment, then asked, 'dont you ever take a bath???' HAHAHA i laughed so hard what a mind a little kid has. i told him yes, i did, but my tattoos were different than his and didnt wash off. he accepted that answer and continued to stare in awe at the fire.

hahaha.... That's awesome! I've noticed I don't scrub as hard on my tattoos. I still have that fear that they might come off

yeah no body scrubs for tattoo's either.
just out of curiosity does anyone know how deep
the ink actually goes in?

I think it depends on the tattooer. I'm probably wrong. But I've heard of people getting road rash and their tattoos growing back. But I've also heard some don't

Kids love them, it's the parents that are the problem, Some are OK but there are those that the second the kid says something about the ink they are grabbed by the arm and hauled off. It doesn't happen that often today because tats are more popular but in the 50's, thru most of the 90's you were taboo to even be around.

Prowel, I think they go through from 7 to 9 layers of skin, Nine being the ass that thinks he has to drill the ink in. I may be wrong, but I don,t think so. Hope this helps.
