i've lived in los angeles my entire life and i have never been an actor or ever tried to be one.. but would it even be possible with a solid set of sleeves? i know i could be type casted as a young rocker type.. but could i ever get serious rolls?

if we look at people like johnny depp.. he has played every type of roll for the most part.. but he is definitely not as heavily tattooed as some people in the tattoo community. do you think corey miller could find huge success in the acting business with his tattoos.. if he were to have serious acting skills?

another one to mention is jesse metcalf.. his big break was playing a shirtless lawn boy on desperate housewives.. now that his entire upper arm is covered with a pinup chick.. how will that affect his career?

i think it automatically type-casts an actor. having a few here and there, like johnny depp, isnt such a hindrance. you'd actually be surprised at how many actors have tattoos. however, the world is still stupid, judgemental, and closed-minded, so people with serious ink such as a sleeve, backpiece, or god forbid a neck tattoo, continue to be put in preconceived character types. im excited that things are opening up for us, though, as it is now commonplace to see people with a sprinkling of ink here and there, like you mentioned jesse metcalfe, who found fame with the over 40 rich high society crowd thru his part on desperate housewives, and is now bringing some quasi-serious ink, thus, with those fans pre-existing penchant for all things metcalfe, making it more acceptable in mainstream society. also, shows like miami, l.a., and london ink, whos main fan base is real desperate housewives who live vicariously thru the bad ass chicks on the television. in movies, though, i dont think heavily tattooed people will ever become leading-role actors in all types of film (i just dont see hugh grant-style romantic comedies starring the lizardman happening any time soon) and i dont know if it should. as a director, you would want to portray a certian setting, vibe, character personality, and your own little on-screen world, and to be quite honest, heavily tattooed people are not the proper choice every time. sure, it would be cool as hell, but Juno would NOT have worked had the leading lady been a suicide girl. get my drift??

well.. i dunno dude. i think apple suicide could have pulled it off.. ok.. kidding..

anyway.. what got me thinking about it was that geeky kid from 90210.. brian austin green.. he's dating the hot girl from transformers and has what looks to be a dragon or snake or something wrapping around his forearm.. although he is not really a mainstream actor.. he is still doing it.. he recently was in the terminator tv show and some other shows here and there..

so with that said.. could someone like me have a real career in movies? seeing as how i have a solid sleeve and large back pieces? i have yet to tattoo my hands or neck.. and i am thinking i probably won't.. do you think it's possible to have an entire acting career wearing a sweater? when was the last time we saw depp in a short sleeved t-shirt?

yeah that 90210 kid does do it. so does freddie prinze jr. but they only have a small spattering of ink, not 'solid' ink. but hey, look at Danny Trejo! dude has made a career being 'that tattooed mexican guy'! thats awesome! now, that being said, could betty lipstick be the next 'Bond girl' well damnit she should be, but i just dont think it would work hahaha! although, i am always intrigued by movies where tattoos play a prominent role, like The Boondock Saints (greatest movie ever made) or Memento or even the Prison Break tv show (even though all those tattoos were fake, it was cool to see our lifestyle put to a cool, story-telling purpose in the form of on-screen entertainment)

or how about eastern promises.. tattoos played a majour part in that one.. the movie was a little lame though..

anyway.. i highly doubt i'll ever go into acting anyway.. i'm too cool for all that.
