Unless you've lived under a rock for the last eight years, you're likely very familiar of Zayn Malik and his music. However, let's catch you guys up on everything he's been up to, just in case. Malik got his start on Britain's The X Factor in 2010, which led him to be part of One Direction. One Direction went on to become one of the biggest pop groups of all time and put out five albums before splitting up in 2015. Upon splitting up, each member of One Direction began their careers as solo artists including Malik, who debuted with his studio album Mind of Mine on March 25th of 2016. Mind of Mine peaked at number one on the US charts and was certified gold by RIAA.
It's been two years since Malik debuted his first studio album, however, on December 14th the British singer-songwriter will drop his second album—Icarus Falls. "Let Me" is the lead single on the album, topping the Billboard Hot 100 chart at number 3. However, there will be a staggering 27 tracks on his second album and a lucky group of fans got the opportunity to be the first listeners at his release party last night.
On December 12th at the PlayStation Theater in New York City, Malik had a listening party for Icarus Falls. However, his music wasn't the only headlining act of the night. Malik sought out the skills of tattoo artist Megan Massacre and her team of talented tattooers at Soho's Grit N Glory.
Massacre, along with Joice Wang, Janice Danger, Nikki Simpson, and Babiery Hernandez, tattooed some of Malik's biggest fans on stage at the event. Each piece was specially designed for the party and fans walked away with designs inspired by their favorite artist.
"The event was awesome," shares Janice Danger. "I was especially excited because I'm actually a fan of his music and couldn't wait to get a first listen at the new songs before they're released!"
Malik of course acted as a host for the event, walking between the aisles of artists to take photos with fans. And as a long time client of Massacre, he wanted to provide the best of the best for his loyal listeners.
What do you think about Malik's tattoo listening party? Will you be tuning in to his brand new album when it is released to the masses on December 14th? Let us know your thoughts, opinions and comments on everything in the comments section on Facebook.
