What do China, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Pakistan, Egypt, and the USA all have in common? Despite their dramatically varying views on human rights, these seven countries all still use the death penalty as a legal form of criminal punishment.
The debate rages as to whether the death penalty is a humane way to end someone’s life or a legitimate deterrent to crime. Regardless of your point-of-view on the subject, there are other forms of punishments handed down throughout the world that make the death penalty seems like the most progressive form of government sanctioned punishment for criminal behavior.
In fact, some are so gruesome, I'm sure some of the recipients would opt for the death penalty.
