One of the unfortunate side effects of the integration of social media into the tattoo industry is the rise of copycats. Before a tattooer’s portfolio went digital, tattoo copying was far less common and much more difficult to expose. However, social media has made it much easier for people to rip off another artist’s work from halfway around the world and get away with it. However, we believe that it’s important to use our platform for good and teach our audience that copying tattoos is 100% wrong. Here’s the bottom line, with some exceptions, tattoo artists make a living off of their original designs and their technical expertise. Therefore, tattoo copying is essentially stealing and should not be encouraged under any circumstance.
