Brian Wilson’s Got a Gun…Tattoo
While Wilson is an excellent pitcher he has been just as well known for his antics off of the field.
Major league hitters have been describing Dodgers pitcher Brian Wilson’s arm as a gun for years so it’s only fitting that the eccentric reliever got one inked on his left hand. TMZ caught Wilson as he left a Los Angeles tattoo parlor on Wednesday with the freshly done classic revolver tattoo.Even if the tattoo isn’t on his pitching arm the sentiment behind the ink is still appropriate.
While Wilson is an excellent pitcher he has been just as well known for his antics off of the field. Baseball can be a pretty straight-laced culture but Wilson has bucked that trend with his enormous beard, mohawk and plethora of ink. Since Wilson’s revolver tattoo will be covered by his glove it is unlikely that Major League Baseball will have an issue with it. In the past MLB has forced some pitchers, most notably journeyman Justin Miller, to wear sleeves on the mound because their inked sleeves could distract a hitter.
After spending his entire career with the San Francisco Giants Wilson signed with the rival Dodgers in the middle of last season. Wilson missed the majority of 2012 and much of 2013 after underdoing Tommy John surgery for the second time. The fire baller was able to come back from surgery as strong as ever; in 18 appearances with the Dodgers he posted an astronomical 0.66 ERA last season.
Wilson and his new ink will return for a second season with L.A. where fans are hoping that he will keep on throwing bullets out of the bullpen.
