It's hard to remember a comic book movie that filled fans with more anticipation—sometimes happily, other times with great consternation—than Deadpool. Leaked footage that was shown at this year's San Diego Comic Con proves that fans need not worry about the direction the film is going in; the Merc with the Mouth will be shown in all of his glory in the upcoming Ryan Reynolds film.
For years fans have wanted to see the beloved character given his own movie, so naturally they were very excited when the project was finally green lit. But on the other side of the coin, Deadpool is clearly one of the more difficult characters in the Marvel Universe to adapt to the screen. For one, it would be impossible to get the tone of the comics portrayed in a film without an R rating. Deadpool's three loves are swearing, brutally killing bad guys and chimichangas—two of those aren't quite welcome in a family film. Secondly, one of the staples of the comics is the breaking of the fourth wall as Deadpool regularly addresses the readers, another aspect that might be difficult to adapt to film. In a glorious three minutes the leaked footage shows Deadpool shoot people in the face, drop F-bombs, talk to the audience, and crack wise all over the place. In other words, it's everything that fans have been clamoring for and more.
You can check out the leaked footage at this link. And while we still have to wait until February of next year to see Deadpool on the big screen check out some tattoos of the foul-mouthed merc in the gallery below.
