By the time Christmas day rolls around many of us are already worn down from the stress of traveling, shopping, and dealing with family members you luckily only see once a year. Thankfully there is a cure for what ails you — booze. A few delicious drinks always make the holidays a little easier so here are five of our favorite cocktails to make your spirits bright.
General Harrison’s Eggnog (Made by “King Cocktail” Dale DeGroff)
1.3 oz. George Dickel Rye
.75 oz. mixture of equal parts egg white, sugar and syrup
1 dash DeGroff’s Pimento Bitters
2 oz. apple cider
Build in a glass or mug and dust the top with nutmeg.
2 oz. Suerte Resposado Tequila
8 oz. Ginger Beer
Fill a rocks glass with ice. Pour the tequila and ginger beer into the glass and squeeze the lime wedge over the top.
Musica es Vida(Created by Diageo World Class Global Winner David Rios)
1 1/2 oz. Ciroc Vodka
1/3 oz. Tangerine Liqueur
1/3 oz. Simple Sugar
¼ oz. Fresh Pineapple Juice
2 dashes Blue Curacao Liqueur
1 dash Lime Bitters
Lime peel for garnish
Combine vodka, tangerine liqueur, simple sugar, pineapple juice, blue curacao liqueur and lime bitters in a cocktail shaker with ice and shake vigorously. Strain contents into a coupette glass. Garnish with lime peel.
1/2 oz. Tito’s Handmade Vodka
1/2 oz. Orange Liqueur
1/2 oz. Fresh Lime Juice
Cored Jalepeno Pepper
Shake all ingredients over ice and strain into a cored jalapeno pepper rimmed with salt and cayenne pepper. Meant to be enjoyed as a shot. If you’re feeling fearless the drink will get spicier the longer it sits in the pepper. You have been warned.
