In her photography artist Irina Davis is trying to create a genre of Russian pinup art that never existed. When pinup art exploded in the United States in the years after World War II it was considered to be vulgar in the Soviet Union where women were women were taught to work hard following the devastation of the war. By using Russian immigrants for her photography Davis is creating an ode to a past that never was. Enjoy this gallery of some of Davis’ more beautiful photographs.
