Since the late 1990s, when pharmaceutical began recommending prescription opioids to medical professionals, the United States and other areas of the western world have been a part of a growing opioid overdose epidemic. In nearly every pocket of the country, the misuse and addition of prescription opioids, heroin, and fentanyl are present and rampant. And this issue has gotten so extreme that it's not only affecting our health, but our environment as well.
