Johns Hopkins Doctors Gave a War Veteran the First Successful Penis Transplant
This past month, a group of highly specialized surgeons at the acclaimed Johns Hopkins Hospital performed the unthinkable—successfully transplanting a penis and scrotum onto a war veteran. In the past, four penis transplants have been performed, however, this is the first that would include the scrotum as well as tissue from the abdominal wall. This procedure is an incredible breakthrough for science and medicine—as it promises near normal urinary and sexual function to the patient it was performed on.
