Cardi B is one of the fastest growing musicians in recent history. Although she'd amassed a fanbase on social media, her hit single "Bodak Yellow" soared to the number one slot of the Billboard Hot 100—making her the second female rapper to reach the top of this chart. Then, with her single "I Like It," Cardi became the first female rapper to attain multiple number one songs on the chart. Additionally, her debut album Invasion of Privacy earned her a Grammy for Best Rap Album.
Prior to making it in the music industry, Cardi B worked as an exotic dancer in the New York City strip club scene. Cardi has been very open about her past as a stripper, rapping about her experience in a number of her hit songs. However, in a recent Instagram post, Cardi may have revealed something sinister about her past as a dancer.
In a video, Cardi admitted to doing bad things while working in the club scene.
“I had to go strip, I had to go, ‘Oh yeah, you want to f*ck me? Yeah yeah yeah, let’s go back to this hotel,’ and I drugged n****s up and I robbed them. That’s what I used to do.”
This caused outrage on Twitter, with the hashtag #survingcardib surfacing and many calling out the rapper for her past actions.
Cardi was quick to respond to the hate on social media, admitting that she'd done wrong in her past but chalking it up to being raised by the streets. She went on to say that she'd be writing a book about her experience, although details on an autobiography are currently hearsay.
