It's no secret that 2018 wasn't an easy year for Demi Lovato. Over the years, Lovato has struggled with depression, eating disorders and addiction—entering rehab at the age of 18 back in 2010. Later on in 2012, Lovato got help for her issues with alcohol and drugs at a sober-living facility in Los Angeles. Lovato remained sober from any drugs or alcohol for six years, however, she admitted that she'd relapsed in June of 2018. Not even a month later, Lovato was rushed to the hospital after overdosing on oxycodone laced with fentanyl. Lovato kept quiet about her health until December of 2018, taking to Twitter to say, "If I feel like the world needs to know something, I will tell them MYSELF. All my fans need to know is I'm working hard on myself, I'm happy and clean and I'm SO grateful for their support."
On January 26th of 2018, Lovato decided to celebrate her six months of sobriety with cake and a brand new tattoo.
For her tattoo, which is a single needle rose on her left index finger, Lovato sought out the skills of Los Angeles artist Daniel Winter.
This isn't Stone's first rodeo when it comes to tattoo celebrities. In the past, he's tattooed both Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas. We had the opportunity to speak with Winter about the experience tattooing Demi Lovato, check it out:
How did Demi approach you about getting this tattoo?
Stone: Demi contacted me through Instagram. We talked about what she wanted and went from there.
Do you know the significance behind the tattoo?
Demi talked to me for a little about what she wanted, a rose came to her mind and asked me to draw her a unique fine-line tattoo. So the single stemmed rose was it!
What's your approach to doing a subtle and feminine finger tattoo?
My aesthetic has always been the finest of lines. When doing feminine finger tattoos, I tend to lean toward more simple, less is more approach.
