Instead of getting a matching tattoo with your man on Valentine’s Day, get one with your best girlfriend on Galentine’s Day

In February of 2010, NBC’s Parks and Recreation released an episode titled “Galentine’s Day.” In the episode, Leslie Knope throws a Galentine’s Day party for her girlfriends on February 13th.

Since the episode aired almost ten years ago, the celebration of Galentine’s Day has transcended the fictional town of Pawnee, IN and has been recognized in mainstream society by brands like Lyft, Target, and Sprinkle’s Cupcakes. #GalentinesDay trends annually on social media sites—proving the Parks and Rec’s writers were onto something good when they wrote the holiday into the show.
