In 1999, we were first introduced to the Nickelodeon animated series "SpongeBob SquarePants," which has run for an astounding 21 years. It's released a staggering 267 episodes in that time, which revolve around the show's titular character as well as his close friends, neighbors and coworkers. For over two decades, SpongeBob SquarePant's best friend has been Patrick Star, a pink starfish whose defining characteristic is his low intelligence.

Patrick Star is voiced by Bill Fagerbakke, who prior to "SpongeBob SquarePants" had lent his voice to a number of animated television shows including "Gargoyles," "Dumb and Dumber" and "Jumanji." He's voiced Star throughout the TV series, as well as the franchise's video games and feature films. Now, Patrick Star is finally becoming the star of his own show.

Fagerbakke is set to star in "The Patrick Star Show," an animated spin-off which will have Star acting as a late night host for Bikini Bottom. It's currently still in the works and it's unclear if it will air on Nickelodeon or CBS All Access. What we do know is that it will certainly be a lot of fun and likely feature appearances from some of our favorite characters—including SpongeBob himself, Squidward, Mr. Crabs and Mrs. Puff. Maybe even Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy!
