Pete Davidson and Ariana Grande are the perfect example of why you should think carefully before getting couple tattoos. Aside from the obvious risk that the love might not last, another very real danger is getting a tattoo you don't personally identify with. This was Davidson's mistake when he got the same behind-the-neck tattoo as Grande.
The two have been making headlines for the array of tattoos they have covered up since calling off their engagement in October.
While Grande continues to release new music about her past loves, Davidson continues to cover up his Grande ink. Some of his revisions have been sweet, but his newest addition isn't so benign.
Tattoo artist Jon Mesa recently posted a photo of Tootsie Pop thief Mr. Owl, which he had tattooed on Davidson's back. Mr. Owl isn’t the cover up, but he points us in the direction of Davidson’s neck, which originally said "Mille Tendresse." This French phrase, made popular by Breakfast at Tiffany's, means "a million tendernesses," and had once matched Grande’s. Now it boldly reads “CURSED” over the past tenderness.
That's not to say you should never choose couple tattoos. "Go for it,"Mesa says."You only live once. But make sure the tattoo, regardless of the other person, it's something you'll still like."
He adds, "Just don't put their name on it."
