While the internet is obsessing over Pete Davidson and Kate Beckinsale’s age gap, we prefer to point you in the direction of his newest neck-tattoo addition.
But to address the "issue," Kate Beckinsale has been making an incredible name for herself through her 28-year career. She’s modeled; been the voice in video games, including Underworld: The Eternal War, Van Helsing, and The Elder Scrolls; and has been awarded and nominated countlessly for her on-screen acting. Notably, for her character in Marc Webb's romantic coming-of-age drama, The Only Living Boy in New York, with co-stars Pierce Brosnan, Callum Turner, and Jeff Bridges.
Most recently, however, the 45-year-old has made headlines for dating 25-year-old Pete Davidson, after being seen holding hands at a Golden Globes after-party together in January.
Neither has been outspoken about the official romance, until their public seal of “relationship confirmation” at the New York Rangers game at Madison Square Garden this past Sunday.
Unfortunately, for celebrities, the “kiss cam” is a never-ending speculation that stays in play beyond the game, with not only unqualified announcers, but irrelevant analysts.
While laying low makes sense for Davidson, especially with the microscope lenses that stalked Grande and his budding relationship, brief engagement, and eventual breakup, internet trolls are coming at Beckinsale's social media pages, expressing their disapproval of the “cougar.”
Admittedly, seeing the PDA picture of the Davidson-and-Beckinsale-kiss is hard not to think of Ariana Grande, because we are all too familiar with his bold heart tattoo that covers up the once-there-Manchester-ink, dedicated to her.
All too familiar, as in we now associate his cover-up tattoos with what was underneath them, because we have been following the Davidson-Grande timeline from the beginnings.
This, as we have to point out, defeats the point of a cover-up.
However, the “backlash” coming for the British actress hooking up with one of Ariana Grande’s Thank You, Next’s, isn’t just from Ariana fans upset that Davidson is moving on. Worse, it is because of the age gap between the two. Commenters are feverishly writing, “she is old enough to be his mom.”
And you’d think, in a world where Hugh Hefner can be eternally celebrated (as he should) for pulling young cuties and not GivingAF*ck, why can’t Beckinsale join in on the fun?
While Beckinsale would have had to deliver Davidson at 20 to be his mother, the actress is holding her own, and gracefully deflecting those comments with her own clapbacks.
We predict the two will be getting some matching ink as their love story evolves, but we are hoping the hypothetical tattoos will be on ink-free skin, and not as an Ariana cover-up.
Because new public kisses mean new beginnings.
