The story is that the real-life Freddy Krueger -- Frederick Kruger, lived in Cincinnati, Ohio in the 1800s. The alleged police files of the time, included the listing of at least twenty murdered children, all around a three-mile radius of Frederick lived. Where did he live? The legend sites it was inside of an abandoned factory, with a fully-furnished torture room, located in the boiler room. The reported weapon used to execute these brutal deaths was alleged to be a gardening claw.
Frederick Kruger was eventually caught, tried, and found to be criminally insane. He spent the rest of his life in Kings Park Psychiatric Hospital before dying at 72-years od age, unexpectedly in his sleep. Legend has it that well before Nightmare on Elm Street, and to this day, Kings Park Psych Hospital is haunted by the ghost of Frederick Kruger.
