The 23-year-old already has more than a dozen tattoos on his arms and hands, done over the course of several years, but his chest has been left conspicuously empty all this time. Now, it appears Payne has been saving the space on his chest for something really special, and what’s more special than becoming a father for the first time? According to reports, Payne is set to mark up his chest with a tattoo inspired by his three-month-old son, named Bear Grey Payne, and we have a feeling this one’s going to be a doozy.

It’s no surprise that Liam Payne plans to get a tattoo honoring his first child. After all, he already has an eye tattoo on his arm for Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, and some say the rose tattoo on the back of his hand is a nod to her as well. So, it was only a matter of time before he added a Bear-inspired tattoo to his growing collection. Just this past weekend, Payne told The Sun, “I haven’t decided what [tattoo I’ll get] yet but I’ll make it a surprise.” As for the location, he said, “I’ve got to do my chest next, which is going to really hurt.”

It’s been a solid three months since Payne has debuted fresh ink, his most recent tattoo being the “1993” birth date piece on the back of his arm. So, we have a feeling he’ll be getting his chest tattoo tribute to Bear in the near future. In the meantime, the 23-year-old will reportedly miss spending his first Father’s Day with his new little family, as he’ll be busy promoting his debut solo single “Strip That Down.” In an interview with MSN at the Capital FM Summertime Ball last weekend, Payne said, “Oh, I’m actually away for Father’s Day. I’m working which is really, really sad, but it’s my first one, obviously, so it’s amazing.” As for how he plans to spend his first Father’s Day away, Payne said, “there’s definitely going to be a lot of FaceTime that day, I reckon.” But if you ask us, a chest tattoo tribute to the little guy more than makes up for his absence.
